About The Opportunity
This is a 12-month position for a recent RACP fellow to establish themselves in their subspecialty practice and clinical leadership in a dynamic regional setting. The successful applicant will gain experience as a junior staff specialist in a supportive environment with potential for ongoing employment to build the service at Orange Health Service.
Exposure to an acute general medicine inpatient service with 3 inpatient teams and RACP-accredited medical trainees in a high-quality regional referral hospital. The role includes subspecialty practice opportunities in a rural inpatient and outpatient setting, with a supportive department of general medicine at Orange Health Service that includes a rotating on-call service.
Consultants offer inpatient and outpatient services across nephrology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, endocrinology, geriatrics, infectious diseases, neurology and general medicine.

Selection Criteria
- Possess or be eligible for Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Evidence of commitment to rural/regional practice and experience in rural or regional medicine is preferred.
- Technical and professional competence in the specialty, with recent hospital experience. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a Senior Medical Practitioner in a multidisciplinary team, with robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice; commitment to teaching and supervision; continuing medical education relevant to rural practice.
- Preparedness to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
