About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Senior DevOps Engineer to support major ICT transformation programs within a large Federal Government agency. The successful candidate will work within a modern technology division delivering secure, scalable, and innovative digital solutions that enhance service delivery and uplift user experience. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to the development, integration, and optimisation of cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and application security frameworks. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with government standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide expert technical advice and direction as an Application Security SME.
* Assist in designing, developing, and ensuring compliance of applications and cloud platforms within AWS.
* Lead and contribute to the architecture and development of CI/CD pipelines.
* Collaborate with cyber security teams and product owners to align information security with business requirements.
* Support programs of work, implementation activities, and BAU operations across the technology division.
* Investigate complex technical issues and communicate solutions to stakeholders.
* Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
* Foster a positive, collaborative, and high‐performing team culture.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Work closely with identity and access management teams to support secure platform integration.
* Provide input to monitoring and compliance activities.
Essential Criteria
Essential Criteria (Each response must be within 3000 characters)
* Demonstrated 5+ years' experience as a Kubernetes Administrator or DevOps Engineer, including hands‐on AWS automation.
* Demonstrated experience implementing RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) in AWS environments.
* Proven experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, alongside CI/CD technologies supporting end‐to‐end delivery.
* Strong understanding of Kubernetes-based applications and container‐orchestration concepts.
* Demonstrated understanding of integration with third‐party identity providers in AWS.
* Willingness to learn SAS DevOps on the job.
Desirable Criteria
* Background knowledge of SAS Viya and enthusiasm for accessible design and development.
* Enthusiasm for maintaining clear, high-quality technical documentation.
* Experience developing REST APIs using one or more of the following: Go, NodeJS / AngularJS / Typescript, Python, and familiarity with Agile methodologies.
* Experience monitoring AWS environments using CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, or similar tools.
