Principal Urban Designer – Urban Design
We are excited to bring onboard a Principal Urban Designer to collaborate closely with the landscape architecture team and spearhead the growth of our urban design practice in Melbourne. The role focuses on delivering award‐winning urban design solutions for key city‐shaping projects across transport, water, and defence sectors.
Responsibilities
* Accurate provision of design analysis, advice, and expertise on urban design projects to deliver design services for key city‐shaping projects.
* Effective management of sub‐consultants preparing feasibility studies, context analysis, masterplan/open‐space strategies, and precinct plan development.
* Apply knowledge of local council, state government, and federal strategies and guidelines related to urban design approaches.
* Independently lead urban design projects, including client interaction and commercial oversight.
* Assist in business development by contributing to bid tenders and proposals.
* Lead client interaction and stakeholder consultation.
* Collaborate with landscape architecture and other design disciplines to assist on development and delivery of active projects.
Who You Are
You are a motivated Urban Designer eager to take a prominent role in supporting KBR's growing urban design team. You have a proven track record of working in multi‐disciplinary environments, facilitating design coordination, sub‐contractor management, liaising with clients, and contributing to business development. You recognise the importance of maintaining professional networks across the industry and building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Master's degree in urban design.
* Ability to work independently with proven leadership in project management and collaborative teamwork.
* Industry knowledge and contacts, with a view to pursuing urban design opportunities and assisting in team growth.
* Exposure to business development highly regarded.
* Proven experience in delivering design advice on city‐shaping infrastructure and urban design projects.
* Experience working in a consulting environment.
* Strong stakeholder management skills.
* In‐depth understanding of sub‐contractor management, delivering project milestones on time and on budget.
