About the Role
A key member of our Facilities team, the Facilities Tradesperson completes day‑to‑day maintenance activities for Council‑owned buildings within the Shire. The role involves physically demanding work in a hot and humid climate on a daily basis, and requires participation in after‑hours work and on‑call support.
Responsibilities
* Complete reactive and planned maintenance activities for Council facilities.
* Perform tasks such as tiling, painting, plastering, joinery and minor renovations.
* Assist with after‑hours work and support on an on‑call roster.
* Conduct regular inspections to ensure facilities remain safe and serviceable.
Qualifications
* Current Queensland C class driver's licence, current trade certification and a Queensland Construction Industry White Card.
* Good knowledge of building maintenance and construction procedures, technical understanding of building plans and specifications.
* Experience with activities such as tiling, painting, plastering, joinery, floor coverings, flat‑pack assembly, window and door locks, non‑structural strip‑outs and undertaking renovations.
* Sound oral and written communication skills.
* Understanding of engineering properties and selection of materials used for building maintenance and construction.
* Ability to apply safe work practices, manual handling techniques, operate power tools and follow WHS procedures and policies.

* BT Level 1 – $78,791 per annum comprised of base wage and allowances and an Above Award Payment.
