About the Role
Project Coordinator / Architect – Collaborate with the wider project team for design and documentation of architectural projects, creating construction documentation and coordinating with consultants to meet client brief and HDR objectives.
Key Accountabilities
Design Philosophy & Leadership
* Coordinate the architectural design process, develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics.
* Produce study models, renderings, montages, diagrams and presentations.
* Apply best practice and innovation, understanding national and international design precedents.
* Contribute to early‐stage project processes: design brief development, site analysis, information gathering.
* Support early stages with sketching, diagramming and presentation skills.
* Review and interpret Design Reports from prior stages.
* Appreciate design intent hierarchy and evaluate elements at critical, nice‐to‐have or minimum levels.
* Propose creative, technically sound design solutions.
* Prepare for internal and external design reviews, maintaining design intent.
* Develop knowledge of materiality and project‐specific material limitations.
* Translate design intent into defined project deliverables across phases.
* Understand conversion of theoretical design into commercial practice.
Technical Delivery
* Create high‐quality schematic, design development, and construction documentation.
* Own assigned deliverables, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
* Understand compliance requirements – DA, CC, BCA/NCC, DDA – and align documentation with codes.
* Check work thoroughly before review.
* Show proficiency in Revit, Rhino, MS Office, and Adobe Suite.
* Maintain document control and keep documentation up to date using HDR systems.
Project Management
* Apply fundamental project management principles.
* Coordinate with Project Leaders to manage consultant, client and contractor requests and scope changes via HDR Variation Change Register.
* Confirm weekly deliverables, deadlines and critical dates with leaders.
* Track time and resources, keeping tasks within budgets and timelines; escalating issues as needed.
* Support monthly financial updates, estimating hours, and project status assessments.
Project Commercial Responsibility
* Deliver tasks efficiently and autonomously.
* Understand architectural fee structures and commercial rationale.
* Promote continuous improvement in project delivery and design coordination.
Business Development
* Engage in opportunities across typologies through project stages.
* Promote HDR positively to industry and colleagues.
* Show understanding of HDR's ABG core sector typologies in Australia.
* Contribute to proposals, presentations and design documentation supporting HDR's design excellence.

Desired Skills and Competencies
* Tertiary qualifications in Architecture.
* 3–8 years' experience in building design and documentation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Strong portfolio with keen eye for presentation and detail.
* Interest in personal and professional development.
* Developing technical skills and proficiency with Revit, Rhino and Adobe suite.
