Cairns, Full Time, Hospitality Vacancy Listing Dates 15/12/2025 to 12/01/2026 Please Quote Reference Number 14704 Immediate starts available Competitive remuneration Waterbar and Grill Steakhouse - Cairns Waterbar and Grill Steakhouse are currently looking for experienced Chefs, Restaurant Managers and Waiters to join our team in Cairns. Grill Chefs and Chefs Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: Prepare food as required, using appropriate cooking equipment and technology and using appropriate methods of cookery following standard recipes; Receive, store, maintain and rotate kitchen supplies; Maintain proper portion control to keep food costs in line; Ensure quality control at all times and that catering requirements are met; Adhere to the cleaning schedule and required level of presentation and storage; Drive increased customer satisfaction levels in catering; Working with management to ensure all issues and challenges raised by the member, guest or team are effectively resolved or escalated as appropriate; Full availability over a seven day week is required to meet business demands; Maintain food safety while carrying out food handling activities and comply with hygienic work practices and appropriate Work Health & Safety (WH&S) guidelines; Contribute to a strong team by maintaining a harmonious and mutually beneficial working relationship with staff, management and customers in a pressured environment; Understanding all relevant WH&S legislation and implementing as appropriate; Maintain food safety while carrying out food handling activities as well as complying with hygienic work practices and appropriate WH&S guidelines; To ensure that all safety rules, emergency procedures and fire prevention regulations are strictly adhered to; Food Standards Australia / New Zealand is understood and complied with. To be considered for this position, you will need to have a level of skill commensurate with a relevant Trade Certificate or higher qualification, and at least one year of relevant employment experience OR at least three years of relevant employment experience as a Chef. A remuneration package between $77,000 - $85,000 will be offered to the successful candidate. Restaurant Managers Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: Assisting with the creation of weekly rosters; Closing the restaurant and counting the till; Ensuring that the staff are operating the dining area and bar as required maintaining our high standard of quality; Ensuring the cleanliness of the steakhouse adheres to health & safety standards on a daily basis; Ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant on a daily basis; General maintenance or observation of all equipment to ensure fridges and grilling equipment are serviced on a frequent timeline; Implementing seasonal changes to the menu and new additions; Maintaining staffing costs, food costs, and marketing campaigns to ensure the business remains profitable and a viable contributor to society; Placing and arranging daily orders and implementing stock rotation according to the restaurant budget; Receiving, dealing with and reporting any customer complaints and enquiries; Training new staff in preparation of meals, health and safety standards, customer service and systems of operation. To be considered, a level of skill commensurate with a relevant AQF equivalent diploma level or higher qualification and at least 1 year of post-qualification employment experience as a Restaurant Manager OR at least 3 years of relevant employment experience as a Restaurant Manager. A salary package of $77,000 - $85,000 per annum will be offered to the successful candidate. Waiters / Drinks Waiters Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: Setting, arranging and clearing tables; Greeting and sitting customers; Providing customer with menu, beverage and wine lists; Taking orders and recommending dishes and/or pairing wines; Serving food and beverages; Opening bottles, pouring beverages and removing empty and used glasses from tables; Collecting payments and operating point of sales machines and cash registers; A superior level of service and product standards to ensure the ultimate level of customer satisfaction (i.e. quality product, customer feedback, guest satisfaction, store ambience); Daily restaurant operations as outlined by Company policies and standards (i.e. checklists, cleaning rosters, table allocation); Restaurant opening, closing and service procedures are executed consistently and correctly; The positive interaction with both fellow staff members and guests to create a harmonious working environment as outlined by Company policies and standards; Work/Occupational Health and Safety requirements including restaurant cleanliness and staff/customer safety; The Responsible Service of Alcohol procedures are met and legally complied with; All equipment and utensils are maintained through following cleaning procedures and any damage is reported to management; Assigned area cleanliness and organisation is of the highest standard; Wastage and Shrinkage/Breakage is at a consistently low level and documented accordingly; Average daily spend per head is maximised; All floor checklists are completed and evolved; Staff meetings and training courses are attended. To be considered you will need a level of skill commensurate with a relevant AQF equivalent and recognized Certificate III in Hospitality (Restaurant Front of House) and 12 months of full-time relevant employment experience OR at least 18 months of relevant Australian employment experience as a Waiter/Drinks Waiter OR at least 2 years of full-time relevant employment experience as a Waiter/Drinks Waiter. A salary package of $70,000 - $80,000 per annum will be offered to the successful candidate. All opportunities are full time, immediate starts are available.
