Data Engineer Role
As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making across our business. This involves designing and optimising data pipelines and cloud infrastructure, ensuring data quality, and empowering analysts and data scientists with the tools and insights they need.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Partner with management to understand and prioritise data and information needs across the business.
2. Build, maintain, and optimise data pipelines and architectures to ensure reliable and scalable access to data.
3. Develop algorithms and tools that transform raw data into actionable insights for analysts and decision-makers.
4. Support Data Analysts by enabling self-service reporting and dashboards, and occasionally building these directly.
5. Manage and improve cloud infrastructure, including deploying, securing, monitoring, and scaling systems.
6. Provision and maintain business intelligence (BI) tools to support reporting and data visualisation.
7. Ensure data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and BI tools are secure, consistent, and highly available through monitoring and validation.
8. Research, test, and prototype new technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
* 3+ years in a similar role.
* Experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or SQL Server.
* ETL technology experience including SQL, Python, Dagster, and Fivetran.
* DevOps experience including deploying, security hardening, monitoring, and logging on top of Heroku or Azure.
* BI experience, especially with Metabase or Sisense.
* Governance and security experience, especially with sensitive data or frameworks such as SOC2 or Essential 8.
