The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is the largest stupa in the Western world and a major tourist and pilgrimage attraction in Bendigo.
Over the Christmas and New Year period, we are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Christmas Casuals to join our team in two key areas: Café (Baristas & Cooks) and Retail Assistants.

Café Duties (Baristas & Cooks)
Prepare and serve quality coffee, drinks and light meals.
Provide friendly, efficient customer service at the café counter.
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of café areas (tables, benches, food display).
Operate POS and handle cash transactions accurately.
Assist with food preparation, stock rotation and restocking.
Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Café Qualifications
Either barista experience or food handling knowledge.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Reliable, responsible and able to multitask.
Positive attitude toward cleaning and maintaining a tidy workspace.
Availability during weekends, public holidays and the holiday season.
Retail Assistant Duties (Christmas Casuals)
Welcome visitors and introduce them to the Great Stupa site.
Provide maps and information to help guests explore the grounds.
Assist with retail sales, donations and sponsorships in the Gift Shop.
Support group visits, ceremonies and events.
Maintain presentation of the Gift Shop and Visitor Centre.
Cash handling and use of POS software.
Retail Assistant Qualifications
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Friendly, professional and approachable manner.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Previous retail or tourism experience.
Comfortable engaging with visitors from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The Great Stupa is open Weekdays 9am–5pm and Weekends & Public Holidays 10:30am–5pm.
The StupaView Café is open daily from 9am–5pm.
Extra hours may apply during festivals and events.
Weekend, public holiday, and Christmas/New Year availability is essential.
