Business Development & Operations Manager - MacroVan

MacroVan is Saltire Group's welfare van business. We design, fit out, and hire welfare vans to Australia's construction, utilities, and mining sectors. With demand for compliant and fit-for-purpose site solutions growing, we're looking for a Business Development & Operations Manager to take charge of both sales growth and fleet operations.

Position Summary

The Business Development & Operations Manager leads the growth and day-to-day delivery of the MacroVan business. This role is responsible for winning new business, managing client relationships, overseeing van fit outs, and ensuring profitable fleet operations.

The role requires a unique mix of commercial drive and operational oversight, ensuring MacroVan scales sustainably while maintaining quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.

Roles and Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

* Identify and pursue new opportunities in construction, mining, utilities, and field services sectors.
* Build and manage relationships with contractors, utilities, and hire clients.
* Prepare proposals, quotes, and tender responses.
* Drive brand awareness through industry networks, events, and digital channels.
* Achieve revenue growth, profitability and utilisation targets.

Operations & Delivery

* Oversee van fitouts, ensuring quality, compliance (electrical/plumbing), and timely delivery.
* Manage scheduling, logistics, and asset tracking of the hire fleet.
* Develop systems for fleet utilisation, hire agreements, servicing, and compliance.
* Lead, supervise, and coordinate trades and suppliers (carpentry, electrical, plumbing).
* Implement safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Commercial Management

* Prepare budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting on utilisation, revenue, and costs.
* Manage supplier agreements, subcontractor relationships, and procurement.
* Ensure margin protection through effective cost control and fleet lifecycle planning.
* Contribute to strategic growth plans and national expansion roadmap.

Skills and Qualifications:

* 5–10 years' experience in plant/equipment hire, fleet management, or site accommodation.
* Experience in vehicle fit-outs (service vans, mine-spec, welfare units) or related industries.
* Strong track record in business development and account management.
* Proven operational leadership in scheduling, logistics, or workshop/fleet management.
* Familiarity with electrical, plumbing, or construction compliance requirements desirable
