We require a team of two for our upcoming season (May-September) to conduct tours in the Kimberley and up the West Coast. Our tours range from 9 to 17 days, are fully accommodated, max 20 pax and do plenty of off-road. Active Australian retirees are the main clientele.
Kimberley Outback Tours offers multi-day tours to some of Western Australia and the NTs best natural and cultural destinations, with a focus on wilderness in comfort. We are a family owned business that prides ourselves on service. We have two crew on all tours so strongly encourage couples to apply.
Responsibilities
The team will be responsible for providing culturally and environmentally rich tour commentary, safely transporting passengers, guiding short hikes, loading/unloading coach, changing tyres, cleaning the coach, doing minor coach maintenance, filling in travel and maintenance logs, food purchasing and meal preparation (morning and afternoon tea and picnic lunches), forward planning activities, liaising with all 3rd parties on arrival times, dietaries etc... tending to customer's needs and other tasks as required.
Qualifications/Skills
Touring experience in the Kimberley and/or West Coast (Perth to Broome) preferred but no essential.
Professionalism essential.
First Aid Certificate required.
MR License and PTD or equivalent required (driver only)
Food Handling Safety Certificate.
Mechanical and Electrical experience to diagnose and fix minor vehicle issues preferred.
What We Look For
We are open to people with limited direct tour guiding experience however, relevant life experience is essential.
Excellent communication and the ability to build relationships quickly
Fantastic interpersonal skills and the ability to tell stories. You will be required to host people, provide insightful commentary, deal with the occasional difficult personality and become friends with guests.
Ability to work independently to a high standard and handle some long days.
Ability to be a team player and get done what needs to be done to delivery a great tour to our customers.
Couples are preferred but we will consider friends/colleagues that have worked together in the past.
Package
Market remuneration and dependent on experience.
Casual/Contract employment
Transport to and from start/finish
Accommodation provided in Broome/Perth between tours.
All meals provided while on tour.
