Executive Manager Governance and Workplace
The Shire of Coolgardie is seeking an accomplished and values‑driven Executive Manager Governance and Workplace to join our Executive Leadership Team.
This role provides strategic leadership across governance, risk, legal and compliance, organisational development, human resources, workplace relations, and executive services, ensuring the Council meets its statutory obligations while fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Manager Governance and Workplace is responsible for:
Providing strategic oversight of governance, corporate compliance, risk management, and integrity frameworks
Leading people and culture functions, including workforce strategy, organisational development, performance, and workplace relations
Ensuring high‑quality executive and Council support, including policy development, delegations, and decision‑making processes
Driving continuous improvement, best‑practice governance, and legislative compliance
Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team to deliver trusted advice and high‑quality services across the organisation
Building strong relationships with Councillors, executive colleagues, regulators and external stakeholders
About You
You are a senior leader with a strong track record in governance and people leadership, ideally within a local government environment. You will bring:
Extensive experience in governance, corporate services, human resources, or a related executive function
Sound knowledge of local government legislation, industrial relations, and governance frameworks
Highly developed leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
Demonstrated ability to lead organisational change and foster a positive workplace culture
Tertiary qualifications in law, governance, human resources, public administration, or a related discipline (desirable)
