Primary objective
Work collaboratively with the Child and Family Centre (CFC) team and stakeholders, to coordinate and deliver culturally
responsive, place-based programs that improve educational, health, and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal children aged 0–
5 and their families. Lead community engagement and provide cultural brokerage to ensure CFC practices are culturally
appropriate and responsive to community needs. Engage with the Aboriginal community to break down barriers to social
participation for children and families experiencing social isolation, disadvantages, high levels of vulnerability and impact by
trauma to engage with the CFC and relevant services.
Context statement
Larapinta CFC is a hub for integrated early childhood education, health, and wellbeing services. Central to this role is fostering
community-led service design, promoting cultural safety, and supporting vulnerable families through collaborative
partnerships.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate the engagement of Aboriginal families, including an outreach strategy, transportation and home visit
schedules, social media, and team documentation requirements.
2. Influence and develop CFC staff and partners’ cultural knowledge and inclusion practices to ensure culturally responsive
delivery of programs and services.
3. Coordinate the planning and delivery of integrated early childhood and family support programs and projects.
4. Coordinate community-based initiatives, including contributing to funding proposals, reporting, and delivery of activities.
5. Develop partnerships and networks with services to promote a collaborative, community-wide approach.
6. Lead community consultation and contribute to policy, data collection, reporting, and evaluation.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience coordinating and evaluating culturally appropriate programs for Aboriginal children and families.
2. Strong knowledge of Aboriginal cultures, languages, and community context and dynamics.
3. Demonstrated understanding of early childhood development and the significance of the early years.
4. Proven ability to build partnerships and networks, with strong knowledge of child and family services.
5. Demonstrated ability of high-level written and oral communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, including strong
cross-cultural competence.
6. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a
team environment.
Desirable
1. Certificate III qualification or higher in Early Childhood Education, Health, Community Development, or related field.
2. NT Driver’s license and first aid certificate.
