Transportation Professional
The Transportation Professional is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
* Safely operate the assigned commercial motor vehicle, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
* Loading and unloading cargo requires proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit. Verify the accuracy of paperwork and manifests.
* Plan the most efficient and safe route to the destination, considering factors such as road conditions, weather, and traffic.
* Maintain accurate records of hours worked, kilometres driven, and cargo delivered. Complete all necessary paperwork, including bills of loading and delivery receipts.
* Maintain open communication with dispatchers, shippers, and receivers to provide updates on delivery status and address any issues that may arise.
* Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing the transportation industry, including hours of service regulations.
This role involves interacting with clients and providing excellent customer service while representing the company in a professional manner. Handling emergency situations, such as accidents or breakdowns, following established procedures and ensuring the safety of oneself and others.
Required skills and qualifications include a valid commercial driver licence (HC/MC) for the appropriate class of vehicle. A clean driving record with no major violations, ability to operate and manoeuvre large vehicles safely, knowledge of and adherence to safety regulations and traffic laws. Strong communication skills for interacting with dispatchers, clients, and fellow drivers. Physical stamina and endurance for long hours of driving and potential loading/unloading activities.
Beyond these requirements, this role demands adaptability and flexibility to changing schedules and routes. Additionally, basic mechanical knowledge is essential for routine vehicle maintenance tasks.
