Through a combination of specialist support services, training and consultancy, knowledge sharing and advocacy, we are working to remove the barriers young people face as they make Australia their home.About the RoleThe Multicultural Youth Worker is responsible for delivering high quality culturally competent youth work and support to young people eligible for CMY's settlement programs.
This will include targeted individual support, group work, and at times assistance with complex and multiple needs.
In support of the employment mentoring component of CMY's Settling Smarter program, the workers will assist the Senior Multicultural Youth Worker in matching mentors and mentees and drive engagement in these matches.
A strong focus of the role is on youth engagement and working closely with the Senior Multicultural Youth Worker to ensure young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds have every opportunity to settle well in Australia.Hours: 38 hours per week (1.0FTE), Full TimeFixed Term: until 30 June 2026Base Salary (SCHADS Level 4): $88,090.08 per annum plus Super and access to Salary Packaging (Salary Packaging is a outstanding way to increase the value of your salary by allowing you to receive a portion of your income in the form of tax free or tax-deductible benefits.)Location: CMY Carlton OfficeApplications Close: Midday 12:00pm, Monday 6 October 2025Interviews: to be held in the week beginning 13 October 2025You will have:Understanding of the multiple intersecting barriers relevant to young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, particularly barriers to Settling well in Australia.Skills in intake, assessment and individual support for young people, including understanding of risk responses, intervention and referral practices.Understanding of processes required to recruit, screen, train and provide ongoing support to volunteers, including both professional and peer mentors.Ability to plan and facilitate workshops and training for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.Demonstrated experience in supporting project implementation, which includes well-developed organisational and administrative skills, the ability to plan and manage an effective work program, meet deadlines, database management, and the capacity to be flexible.Well-developed interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills with proven ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders including young people, families, communities, volunteers, schools and organisations.Knowledge and interest in sports and recreation programs operating in the City of Hume.Contact person for the role: Julian Nation, Team Leader – Youth Support on 0407 811 685How to ApplyClick Apply on the job and complete the application form.
