Moore River Café is seeking a talented Qualified Restaurant Chef to join our vibrant team. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver exceptional food and beverage experiences in a fast-paced environment, catering to both takeaway and dine-in customers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
About the Role:
As the Qualified Chef, you will play a pivotal role in our kitchen, acting as second-in-command to the Executive Head Chef. You will oversee daily operations, lead the team in the absence of the Head Chef, and contribute to our menu with innovative creations and diverse culinary offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage a fast-paced kitchen catering to the tourism sector, with takeaway and dine-in services for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
· Manage kitchen staff, conduct stocktake audits and manage inventory orders.
· Oversee food preparation for daily service and special functions, creating event-specific menus.
· Operate and maintain a variety of kitchen equipment, including pizza ovens, fryers, grilles, gas burners, and conventional ovens.
· Perform general kitchen duties and manage time efficiently during slower periods.
· Develop, test, and refine innovative recipes for dine in and takeaway foods.
· Support front-of-house, back-of-house, and kitchen operations as an all-rounder when required.
· Foster positive interactions with customers, clients, and suppliers to build strong relationships.
What We're Looking For:
· Proven leadership experience in a busy café or restaurant environment.
· A minimum of 2-3 years of professional chef experience is required.
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
· Expertise in food preparation, presentation, and kitchen management.
· Creative flair for developing tailored menus for special events.
· Passion for culinary innovation.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, school holidays, and public holidays.
· Strong time management skills, especially during quieter periods.
· Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
· Own accommodation and reliable transport preferred but interim accommodation may be available.
