What You Need To Know...

* Permanent full time – 70 hours per fortnight

About The Role

Are you a strategic environmental health leader who thrives on delivering meaningful outcomes for community wellbeing and environmental protection?

As Coordinator Environmental Services, you will lead the delivery of high‐quality public health, environmental health and environmental management services across the Clarence Valley local government area. This is a pivotal leadership role that blends technical expertise, regulatory oversight and people leadership to ensure services are delivered efficiently, proactively and in alignment with legislative requirements, Council policy and budget frameworks.

You will guide and support the Environmental Services team across a broad portfolio that includes food safety inspections, skin penetration premises, caravan park and manufactured home estate licensing, air, noise and water pollution matters, contaminated land management, on‐site wastewater management and improvement of Council's environmental practice.

Working across environmental assessment, compliance auditing and monitoring functions, you will provide clear, plain‐English verbal and written advice to Council's Leadership Team, staff, the community, businesses and government agencies. You will also champion proactive community engagement and education initiatives that strengthen awareness of, and compliance with, environmental and public health standards.

A key part of this role involves identifying emerging public and environmental health issues impacting the community and contributing to the development of policy and strategic objectives for the Environment and Regulatory Services team and broader Council operations. You will drive continuous improvement by reviewing policies, procedures and work practices, and by implementing relevant actions within Council's annual Operational Plan.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team, shape environmental service delivery across the region and make a tangible contribution to protecting public health and the natural environment for the Clarence Valley community.

The Environmental Services team are responsible for conducting public and environmental health inspection, monitoring and education programs. Please tell us how you have supervised a regulatory team and ensured adopted program goals are achieved while maintaining professional relationships with customers and/or the wider community. What was the program/s, objectives, performance measures and critical factors in ensuring program objectives and quality community relations were upheld?

Other Important Information

This position is located at Council's Grafton or Maclean depot, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.

A probation period applies to this position.
