Winanga-Li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre is accredited as an Aboriginal Out-of-Home Care Service. Our Out-of-Home Care service has office locations in Gunnedah and Tamworth which covers the New England Region including Gunnedah, Quirindi, Tamworth, Narrabri, Moree and neighbouring towns. We are inviting applications from people wishing to apply for the role of Casework Compliance Specialist primarily based out of Gunnedah.
We are looking for an experienced Caseworker/Compliance Officer who may be interested in engaging on another important aspect of Out-of-Home Care by driving, coordinating, and implementing practices which increase quality assurance and compliance responsibilities we have to our children, families, carers, as well as the Office of the Children’s Guardian, and the Department of Communities and Justice. This role will also be focused on identifying and recommending best practice outcomes, as Winanga-li is very focused on Continuous Quality Improvement.
This role will work closely with the PSP Manager, Team Leader, Caseworkers, Carer Support and Cultural Support to monitor, review, and facilitate practices that meet accreditation requirements. The position will also be responsible in providing coaching, auditing, reporting, remediation guidance and other practical mentoring functions.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Work with the Manager and Team Leader to undertake quality audits and analyse activities within the program; ensure quality assurance records and relevant information are collated and analysed on a regular basis.
Maintain all aspects of Casework Compliance through the means of pre-established tracking systems that facilitates collating evidence of practices against the casework standards.
Developing concepts and models based on Best Practices outcomes focused on our families through to our systems and processes
Assist with collation of all findings and improvement opportunities through written reports which include practical recommendations reflective of implementation and change management principles.
Contribute to activities which sustain practice monitoring and responsiveness to continuous quality improvements for children, young people, carers, family members and other stakeholders.
Review case files, incidents for risk and provide recommendations and practice support to enhance outcomes for children, young people, carers, and families.
Participate in and contribute to internal training and development programs.
Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Communities and Justice.
Essential Selection Criteria:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills & experience:
Demonstrated work experience in Out of Home Care or Child Protection or related child and family sector.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in the field of compliance and reporting.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in the field of Casework assessment and training within Permanency Support programs and/or Out Of Home Care and/or child protection.
Knowledge of the Office of the Children’s Guardian Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care.
Understanding of and commitment to use of data for quality improvement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Well-developed analytical, critical thinking and assessment skills coupled with intermediate MS office skills, and Intermediate Excel skills desirable.

Be of Aboriginal descent and demonstrate an understanding of why this is relevant to the role or your cultural understanding and experience working in the Child Protection Sector.
This position is subject to applicants having a current Working with Children Check, National Criminal Record Check, Residential Worker Check clearance and a current unrestricted NSW Driver's license.
