About Clinical Psychologist

The Safeguards Team is seeking a dedicated and experienced clinical psychologist to join their team in safeguarding child and adolescent mental health services. The role involves providing innovative and best practice care to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress.

The team operates 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, providing rapid, mobile and flexible care to resolve mental health crisis. This may involve visiting young people in their schools, homes and communities, as well as hospital-based settings through face-to-face, phone and telehealth appointments.

Clinical psychologists plan, coordinate, and implement clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge in psychology to provide evidence-based, trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate assessment and treatment to children and adolescents in acute mental health distress, and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

* Providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and adolescents with mental health issues
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve service goals and improve care and outcomes for children, young people, and their families/carers
* Developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives and service enhancement activities with other staff
* Working effectively within a community-based setting to respond to young people in crisis
* Applying advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgment when dealing with complex clinical situations

To be successful in this role, you will require:

* Current full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with a four-year degree in psychology or higher qualification deemed equivalent by the employer
* Extensive postgraduate clinical experience providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved care and outcomes for children, young people, and their families/carers
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems
* Ability to initiate, lead, and complete quality improvement initiatives and service enhancement activities with other staff
* Contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological practice, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care and its application when working with children/adolescents and families

This position is negotiable within the Mid North Coast Local Health District.
