About the Role
This is your chance to shape the future of our farm from soil to harvest Located in the Mildura region we are seeking 2x highly motivated, hands-on individuals to join our Mallee Gold farm team.
You able to juggle various and at times challenging farming priorities that will lead to our success. You will make an impact, building relationships across the business and be an exceptional leader for your team.
A day in the life of
A typical day in the life of our Farm Hands is:
· Help establish the new plantations
· Execute harvesting operations efficiently, adhering to quality standards.
· Operate tractors, harvesters, and other farm machinery for tasks such as irrigation, fertilization, and pesticide application.
· Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure functionality.
· Monitor and manage irrigation systems to maintain proper soil moisture levels.
· Identify and address pest and disease issues promptly, collaborating with the Farm Manager.
· Execute weed control measures to safeguard crop health.
· Assist in maintaining and repairing fences, ensuring the security of the orchard.
· Contribute to the cleanliness and organisation of the farm infrastructure.
· Maintain accurate records of planting, harvesting, and other farm activities.
· Assist in data collection for crop yield and quality assessments.
Experience required:
· Previous experience in orchard operations or general farming preferred.
· Familiarity with citrus cultivation practices is a plus.
· Proficient in operating and maintaining farm equipment.
· Strong physical fitness and endurance for outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment.
· Understanding of basic horticultural principles and pest management.
· Knowledge of irrigation systems and their maintenance.
· Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to new farming techniques and technologies.
