DC Facilities Engineering Manager – Noble Park DC

This role is responsible for the ongoing management of sub‐contractors and large‐scale electrical and mechanical services infrastructure. It includes switch‐gear, electrical distribution, diesel generators, fuel systems, chilled water, data hall cooling, fire detection and suppression, and environmental monitoring systems.

The occupant will coordinate preventive and remedial maintenance, prepare documentation, arrange approvals, and supervise contractors, ensuring PPE and WHS standards are maintained.

The occupant will also monitor building services, identify and resolve issues within scope or escalating to team leaders and service providers, and follow up to resolution.

This role reports into the Data Centre Manager and will be on‐site working.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Implement and maintain approved processes compliant with all relevant certifications (e.g., ISO).
  • Participate in site auditing activities.
  • Support site stability through equipment maintenance, performance monitoring, fault resolution and capacity planning.
  • Undertake or supervise the operation of building infrastructure/equipment.
  • Conduct regular building inspections, proactively identify issues and resolve them or apply risk‐reduction strategies.
  • Arrange and supervise maintenance according to an annual program and undertake all pre and post steps.
  • Manage infrastructure maintenance activities and supervise contractors on a 24×7 basis.
  • Monitor the site through a Building Management System, respond to faults and breakdowns, and provide situation management.
  • Ensure all work is documented (WMS, JSA, risk profile) and meets the planned scope and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards for staff and contractors, including communication and application of approved secure working methods.
  • Identify risks and issues and implement appropriate interim or permanent resolutions in a critical environment.
  • Manage and supervise subcontractors for maintenance, repair and new installations outside normal business hours.
  • Prepare maintenance and project scope.
  • Meet agreed budget targets.
  • Conduct minor repairs or installations as required.
  • Support onsite team members after hours via on‐call roster.
  • Maintain records and up‐to‐date drawings and documentation for all Data Centre infrastructure.
  • Comply with FAL Quality Management Systems for records management.
  • Maintain an up‐to‐date asset register and asset tagging for all infrastructure.
  • Maintain site documentation including procedures and maintenance records.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of data, with appropriate security controls and adherence to Fujitsu Australia Security policies.
  • Promote staff awareness of customer‐specific security policies.
  • Assist in exercising security control of the facility.
  • Periodically review the works area with local area manager and site WHS coordinator.
  • Review work procedures to ensure all works are performed safely.
  • Provide instruction, information, supervision and training to contractors with formal SWMS, PPE and induction.
  • Organise and attend appropriate WHS training courses as required.
  • Provide first aid if required.
  • Review plans, specifications and schedules for infrastructure projects.
  • Undertake infrastructure project management as required.
  • Ensure works comply with standard Data Centre Change Management procedures.
  • Adhere to the company's sustainability policy and reduce data centre environmental impact.

Requirements and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' facilities management experience in a large‐scale data centre or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated technical skills and experience supporting electrical and/or mechanical services infrastructure.
  • Electrical/Mechanical trade certification is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Sound initiative.
  • Valuable oral and written communication skills.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to be trained.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience managing maintenance contractors.
  • Knowledge of occupational health & safety and environmental work practices.
  • Good understanding of building services and maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to identify risks and implement resolutions in a critical environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Formal electrical/mechanical qualifications are not essential but would be highly regarded.
  • Good skills in Microsoft Visio are an advantage.
