The Role
Reporting to the Head of Analytics & AI, you will be the central enabler of a decentralized analytics model—building trusted data pipelines, Power BI semantic models, and clean integrations that let functional teams work independently, confidently, and securely. You will also lay the data foundations for our broader AI and machine learning ambitions.
What You'll Be Doing
* Design, build, and maintain Power BI semantic models and polished reports that turn data into decisions.
* Develop and optimise DAX measures and time intelligence across all functional divisions.
* Build, monitor, and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines in Python against AWS Aurora/RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
* Develop dimensional models, fact tables, and shared calendars that support self‐service analytics and AI workloads.
* Integrate operational and SaaS source systems via APIs, file feeds, and change‐data‐capture.
* Implement data quality controls, lineage, cataloguing, and access management.
* Curate clean, well‐modelled data assets for AI and machine learning initiatives.
* Embrace AI tooling— including Claude Code and Claude Cowork—as a core part of how this role is performed.
What You'll Bring Must‐have
* 3-5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development.
* Demonstrated Power BI experience: semantic models, DAX, time intelligence, and polished report authoring.
* Strong SQL skills with hands‐on experience in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, ideally on AWS Aurora or RDS.
* Proven ETL/ELT pipeline development in Python.
* Experience integrating data from operational and SaaS source systems via APIs or CDC.
* Working knowledge of AWS data services and cloud data architecture.
* Strong understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, data quality, and access controls.
* Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools and a willingness to keep developing AI‐augmented ways of working.
Nice to have
* Experience in logistics, healthcare, or supply chain.
* AWS Certified Data Engineer, Microsoft Power BI, or related certifications.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (required).
* Postgraduate qualifications in Data Engineering, Data Science, or Analytics (desirable).
Who You Are
* Detail‐oriented with strong ownership over data quality and platform reliability.
* Self‐starter with intellectual curiosity and sharp problem‐solving instincts.
* Collaborative and respectful — comfortable working in teams or independently.
* Resilient and positive, with a genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging technology.
* Well‐spoken and professional with stakeholders at all levels.
