As from 15 December 2025 casual lecturing rates will be increased to $82.04, $98.66, $112.76 per hour

12 month casual appointment pool

We are establishing an appointment pool for vacancies that arise up to 7 December 2026. Appointments will be made on a casual basis.

Suitable candidates will be placed in the appointment pool from which opportunities may be offered as vacancies arise. Candidates found suitable through this process may be offered appointment to similar & subsequent vacancies within the College, within other TAFE Colleges or across WA Government (subject to candidate permission being granted). If the appointment pool is exhausted prior to the pool expiry date, we reserve the right to supplement the pool through further advertising.

Central Regional TAFE is responsible for delivering customer focused, industry aligned training and pathways to higher education to build a skilled, productive and employment ready workforce. We deliver 185 courses to 10,000 students each year in the Mid West region - Geraldton, Batavia Coast Maritime Institute and Technology Park, the Gascoyne region - Carnarvon and Exmouth, the Goldfields region – Kalgoorlie and the Wheatbelt region - Northam, Merredin and Moora.

About the role
The lecturer’s primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements. Lecturers also undertake Professional Activities and Activities Related to Delivery.

In order to maintain quality educational services, lecturers are required to keep abreast of technological and other developments in their field through professional development to provide up-to-date information and advice to the College and industry, where appropriate.

To be successful in this role you will have a qualification in art, or extensive experience as an artist (or equivalent). The successful applicant will also have at least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience relevant to this position with an ability to facilitate and encourage learning.

There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), or its successors. The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, or TAE40110), or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011, TAESS00019, or TAESS00024).

Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.

To work for the College, you may be required to hold Australian or Australian equivalent qualification(s). If your qualification has been obtained overseas, the Overseas Qualifications Unit (OQU) offers a free assessment service to have your tertiary or higher education qualification(s) recognised. Other Conditions and Eligibility
Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance. If this position involves contact with children, the recommended occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card.

To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).

Should a position become available that is to cover maternity leave, please note that under the employment requirements for maternity leave, there is provision for end of contract with 4 weeks’ notice upon early return to work of substantive occupant. Likewise, should the substantive occupant wish to extend their maternity leave or return on a part time basis, the College may seek to extend your contract, and with your agreement at an FTE to be negotiated.
