Senior WHS professionals - keen to step into strategic, enterprise‑level project work?
Your new company

Your new role
The role offers the opportunity to influence outcomes across a complex organisation while working in a team that values curiosity, analytical thinking and constructive challenge.
As an APS6 WHS Project Lead, you will work as part of a collaborative team to support nationally significant WHS initiatives aligned to the agency's enterprise safety strategy. This is a project‑focused position, rather than operational or frontline WHS.
You will contribute to:
* Enterprise‑level projects supporting the uplift and rebuild of the WHS management system
* Research and analysis related to fatigue management, including alignment with contemporary Codes of Practice
* WHS capability uplift across supervisors, managers and workers
* Evidence‑based decision‑making through WHS data analysis and reporting
* Development of high‑quality briefs, papers and guidance for WHS leadership
* Stakeholder engagement across internal teams and external providers
* Supporting procurement and management of specialist WHS services as required
This role may require interstate and occasional remote travel.
What you'll need to succeed
* Tertiary qualifications in WHS, or equivalent practical WHS workplace experience
* Demonstrated experience contributing to WHS, safety or risk‑related projects in an APS setting or organisation with a broad risk profile
* Strong understanding of the WHS Act and Regulations, Codes or Practice and relevant Australian Standards
* Strong research, analytical and written communication skills
* Ability to prepare clear, well‑reasoned briefs and guidance materials
* Confidence engaging with stakeholders at different levels
* Certificate IV in WHS or Diploma in WHS (highly regarded)
* Baseline clearance, or ability to obtain one
As this is a Federal Government position, Australian citizenship is required.
What you'll get in return
* Flexible location options across multiple states (excluding Tasmania)
* Strong WFH arrangements and supportive leadership with appetite for innovation
* Opportunity to contribute to high‑impact, nationally relevant WHS initiatives
* Engagement options:
* 12‑month non‑ongoing contract with a 12‑month extension option, or
* s26 transfer (temporary 12-month period or permanent)
