VP, International Sales – ANZ & Japan (Blue Ant Studios)

Reporting to the Managing Director, APAC, (located in Sydney) the VP International Sales – ANZ & Japan will take primary responsibility for achieving the content sales budget in these key APAC markets, with a primary focus on the Australia and New Zealand market-place.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

* Responsible for achieving the agreed annual sales revenue budget in Australia, New Zealand and Japan
* Develop of a deep understanding of the content and rights catalogue including archive and recent release content to assess sales and customer potential (over 7,000 hours in unscripted, scripted, kids & family and animation genres)
* Identify new distribution channels and opportunities to maximize content monetisation
* Develop revenue models and pricing and packaging strategies for ongoing growth
* Work with the Managing Director, APAC to manage windowing opportunities in Australia, New Zealand and Japan to harmonise with Blue Ant channels & streaming business. Collaborate with VP, Distribution Asia (based in Singapore)
* Negotiate licensing deals and revenue-sharing models to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships, securing best possible commercial terms
* Partner with buyers to secure best possible slots to achieve program performance and identify promotional opportunities
* Work with the Singapore based APAC Sales Team Assistant and the central (Toronto based) rights and materials management teams and the legal team to process and fulfill contracts efficiently and accurately
* Oversee rights management and availabilities, to ensure that all possible licensing opportunities are exploited
* Work with the Content team to analyse opportunities for titles in development and incoming through acquisition, providing market intelligence, strategic assessment and sales projections for possible incoming content and greenlight decisions
* Contribute to distribution strategies for marquee titles and be accountable for those sales executions
* Feed into sales forecasting and budgeting process including new release title sales projections
* Assist with pre-sale and co-production opportunities in Australia as they arise

Qualifications and Experience

* 10+ years English language finished programme content sales experience in the Australia and New Zealand media industry
* Possess strong, trusted relationships with buyers across broadcast, streaming & digital local accounts such as ABC and Foxtel as well as with the local acquisition representatives of global platforms such as Netflix, Amazon and Paramount + as well as emerging AVOD platforms
* Experience of selling in Japan and an existing client base would be an advantage
* Strong understanding of digital trends and emerging platforms
* Strong business development and relationship development skills
* Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to embrace innovation
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* English language a must, Japanese would be a bonus
* The position holder will be permanently located in Sydney, NSW

This role is a full-time hybrid position requiring in-office attendance at a co-working space in North Sydney for a minimum of two (2) days per week. In addition to regular business travel, there are time-zone differences which requires the role holder to have a flexible approach to working hours.
