Your Opportunity
As the Senior Business Development Officer, you will build effective relationships with industry and corporate clients to increase engagement and maximise commercial revenue opportunities through the development of high-level partnerships. You will work closely with TAFE Queensland North Faculty management and delivery staff to convert local, state, and notional market opportunities and sales leads into long term sustainable revenue opportunities.
You will also work closely with educational management and marketing team to recognise new market potential, advise on program development and develop effective sales strategies.
This position reports to the Contracts and Commercial Services Manager.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity
The position will be based primarily at Cairns however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
* Build rapport with clients, leverage current/previous sales success and maintain strong B2B relationships to develop key strategic commercial partnerships and provide effective high-level key account management.
* Identify opportunities with new and existing corporate clients in industry to engage TAFE Queensland North in high level partnerships for long term commercial sustainable revenue achievement.
* Propose, develop, and negotiate mutually agreeable contractual terms with clients and manage their ongoing obligations. Liaise with TAFE Queensland North compliance officers to develop contracts and agreements for new business arrangements. Ensure ongoing contracted financial performance, risk management and continuance/renewal.
* Provide supervision and guidance to business development staff, fostering capability development, and driving effective delivery of contract objectives, and other tasks as directed.
* Maintain/develop sophisticated levels of product knowledge in industry sectors to remain current with the industry environment, understand relevant education reform and identify emerging markets for growth.
* Liaise, collaborate and proactively communicate with a cross functional team from marketing, sales, customer service and the region's delivery teams to identify and research market opportunities and lead new product development and commercialisation.
* In conjunction with the Manager, lead the development of commercial sales plans to maximise market penetration and achieve sales targets. In collaboration with TAFE Queensland North's Marketing team, develop marketing campaign schedules to support sales plans, assist client requirements and maximise new business opportunities and conversion.
* Maintain an understanding of the commercial aspects of TAFE including financial and business performance and any impact from external factors.
* Actively engage with industry, business, schools and the community including through the attendance of industry events, forums and promotional activities.
* Model and promote an ethical and safe work environment that supports a culture of zero harm and best practice regarding health, safety, wellness and sustainability.
How You Will Be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
* Experienced business development profession with proven ability to lead a team in a competitive sales environment, with a focus on performance, capability development, and operational excellence.
* Self-motivated to achieve regional outcomes with ensuring long term successful partnerships leading to commercial revenue and repeat business.
* Demonstrated ability to strategically identify, negotiate and finalise commercial sales opportunities on a business to business level and manage a complex client base which leads to increased revenue and positive, long lasting client relationships,
* Effective interpersonal skills including liaising, networking, and negotiating to develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders and corporate clients in a highly customer centric manner. This includes high level writing skills to develop relevant business documents for competitive market opportunities, and professionally representing the organisation at internal and external events.
* Displays flexibility and responsiveness and has the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment including adherence to process and procedure that map to the strategic direction of the educational faculty and TAFE Queensland.
