Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/PhD are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the PhD pathway. Evidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC-76 form and cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met.
Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting their graduation ceremony. Written confirmation from the University is required.
Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration from the Psychology Board of Australia will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until they have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale.
What you'll be doing
The position will provide clinical psychology services to the NSW CICADA Adolescent Drug and Alcohol services at The Sydney Children's Hospital Network.
The NSW CICADA Centre offers Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by drugs and alcohol. It is a lifespan approach within a paediatric tertiary hospital with three clinical streams; Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Service, Family and Adolescent and Drug and Alcohol Services.
The clinical psychologist will primarily work within the CICADA Adolescent Drug and Alcohol service with adolescents with drug and alcohol use, co-morbid mental health issues and harms associated with substance use, to provide assessment, evidence based psychological therapies, case management and care planning. The position will work within a multidisciplinary team as well as liaise with the patient, family and carers and other clinicians involved in the care of young people including government and non government agencies such as mental health services, drug health, youth health, Juvenile Justice, Department of Community and Justice, Education, Emergency Department and other health related agencies.
The Clinical Psychologist is also a member of the Psychology Department and will be required to perform administrative and professional duties and participate in peer supervision.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
* Has full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, and clinical endorsement with the PBA or eligibility to progress to Clinical Psychology Registrar status with PBA.
* Has minimum of 2 years full time equivalent accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
* Demonstrates clinical skills assessing and treating adolescents with mental health problems, including drug and alcohol issues.
