About the Office of the PVC (ILE)
The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement) provides University-wide leadership in Indigenous education, research, employment, and advancement. As part of the senior leadership team, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement) (PVC (ILE)) drives the implementation of UTS’s Indigenous Policy and related strategies, advancing the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, promoting Indigenous teaching and research, supporting Indigenous staff employment, and leading engagement across the University and community. The Office is led by the PVC (ILE), who also serves as Executive Director of the Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research.
About the role
The Program Director, Indigenous Graduate Attribute leads the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of the university-wide Indigenous Graduate Attribute (IGA) in alignment with the UTS Indigenous Education and Research Strategy 2025–2030. The role provides high-level advice and guidance to senior leaders and academic staff on embedding the IGA across all faculties, while monitoring performance and progress towards key indicators. Acting as a key representative for UTS, the position promotes Indigenous teaching and learning initiatives, enhances institutional capability, and strengthens the University’s profile and partnerships within and beyond UTS.
About You
As the Program Director, Indigenous Graduate Attribute, you will:
* Maintain the structure and integrity of the existing IGA Framework, contribute to review of curriculum, central resources and collateral to support faculties in the effective integration and implementation of IGAs.
* Oversee management of program of cross-UTS workshops to strengthen capacity to teach the Indigenous Graduate Attribute, including oversight of curriculum, professional development needs and cultural content.
* Contribute to the strategic Indigenous Teaching and Learning program that includes initiatives that support positioning UTS as a leader in Indigenous teaching and learning at a sector, national and international level.
* Provide strategic advice to the PVC (ILE), Associate Dean (Indigenous Education), the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students), Faculty Deans, Faculty Associate Deans/Directors (Indigenous) and academic staff on the IGA implementation, matters of Indigenous teaching and learning, both within the University and across the sector more broadly.
* Provide effective leadership of the Indigenous Teaching and Learning team, setting clear goals, building staff capability, and cultivating a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with the Indigenous Teaching and Learning team on independent research and develop scholarly papers in relation to Indigenous teaching and learning matters as appropriate to promote UTS’ sector leadership, and to the degree possible.
Selection Criteria

* Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate a team of academic and professional staff to achieve key performance outcomes in accordance with organisation policies, procedures, governance frameworks and set budget parameters.
* Understanding of Indigenous cultural protocols and engage with all staff in a manner that is respectful, collegiate and thoughtful. This will also include ability to recognise priorities based on Indigenous values and processes to ensure an atmosphere of cultural safety in the professional context.
* Demonstrated capacity to lead the IGA program and contribute to the broader strategic direction of the University regarding Indigenous teaching and learning.
* Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, development and implementation within tertiary education, including Indigenous curriculum initiatives, and a strong understanding of governance, compliance and academic quality frameworks.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and successfully deliver to completion large-scale, multi-phase, complex projects or programs with multiple and diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of the principles for protection of, and respectful engagement with ICIP for Indigenous teaching and learning.

Base Salary Range: SSG1 $145,668 to $181,327 pa
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
