About the Business Unit:

Hopkins Correctional Centre (HCC) is a medium security prison located at Ararat, Victoria for prisoners with protection requirements and prisoners on remand.

About the Role:

The Recreation Officer is part of the Vocational Services Team. The role of this team is to prepare prisoners for release and to enhance post release employment opportunities, targeted educational opportunities and personal development programs and activities.

Some of your duties will include:

* Coordinating, facilitating and supervising a range of recreational activities and programs for prisoners providing instruction, coaching, and training
* Assessing recreation requirements of general and special needs prisoners to inform development of recreation programs for individuals and groups
* Communicating with and giving directions to prisoners in a respectful and motivational manner, respond to prisoner complaints and requests, and providing pro-active assistance and guidance to prisoners as required.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

* Experience developing and delivering passive and active recreation programs
* An understanding of the constraints of working within a prison environment
* A Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent qualification.
