Organisation Profile New England Landcare Network Inc (NELN) is a regional Landcare Network representing four member Landcare groups, including Southern New England Landcare Ltd, Gwydir and Macintyre Resources Management Committee, Glen Innes Natural Resources Advisory Committee, and Granite Borders Landcare Committee Inc. Its purpose is to represent and advocate for Landcare in the New England Tablelands and foster collaboration and coordinated actions towards sustainable land management, environmental conservation and empowered communities. Position/Role Objectives The Regional Administrative Support Officer (RASO) is responsible for the administration and coordination of NELN, and assisting NELN progress towards self-sufficiency. The RASO will work with the NELN Committee of Management (CoM), the NELN Regional Landcare Coordinator (RLC), the NELN Bookkeeper, and Local Landcare Coordinators (employed by NELN’s member groups), to support and empower them to achieve their goals and to deliver on the target outcomes of the 2023-2027 Landcare Enabling Program (LEP). The RASO will focus on administration, processes and streamlining of systems to create a smooth and efficient regional network office, to help deliver the outcomes of the LEP. The RASO will directly interact with Landcare NSW, local partners, and Government bodies across the region. The RASO will be expected to collaborate with a range of Landcare support mechanisms, including Local Land Services and other agencies. Additional hours for project management may be available to the RASO where these hours are funded by project(s) secured by NELN. Key Deliverables Support the day to day administration of NELN. Manage NELN’s finances and reporting obligations in collaboration with NELN CoM Treasurer and Bookkeeper (including obligations to the Australian Charity and Not-for-profit Commission, the ATO, and the NSW Government) Undertake secretarial duties for the NELN CoM and RLC Steering Committee including assistance to prepare agendas, business papers, minutes and presentations Assist the RLC to prepare NELN project and grant applications, and business development Develop and maintain NELN’s website and prepare communications (newsletters and social media) Project management, reporting and evaluation, including for but not limited to, the LEP Assist the NELN CoM and RLC with stakeholder management Electronic data and records management using standard Microsoft applications Report activities in the Coordinator Activity Tracker (CAT) Liaise with the Program’s Indigenous Engagement Officers to ensure Indigenous programs/projects are incorporated into regional delivery Participate in Regional and State Community of Practice events Human resource support and recruitment of staff may be necessary Reporting/Supervision Arrangements Position reports to the NELN Chair and is supported by the NELN CoM. The successful applicant will be working in a broader Landcare network. The RASO will work closely with the RLC, NELN CoM, and Local Landcare Coordinators as well as Landcare NSW staff, and Local Land Services staff. Competencies Essential Strong financial management, budgeting and reporting skills Strong administration and project management skills Strong communication skills both oral and written Experience with government or Not-For-Profit projects Highly desirable Experience in grant writing for successful outcomes Experience in business development for Not-For-Profits Proactive, with a community minded attitude Excellent attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure Excellent networking and stakeholder engagement skills Strong interest in, and commitment to, local environmental and agricultural land management issues Flexibility about working hours over the period of employment Has a current driver’s licence Selection Criteria In your application please address each of the following criteria: Proven expertise in office management and administration including financial management. Demonstrated skills in project planning, management, record keeping, report writing, and grant writing. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to work with Government agencies, community groups and landholders, including schools and indigenous groups. Ability to travel from time to time as well as the ability/willingness to occasionally work outside office hours to attend community group meetings. Experience in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Sustainable Agriculture or similar, is preferred but not essential. Attendance at meetings outside of normal work hours may be required. Occasional travel around the New England region may be required. You may be required to use your own vehicle for work purposes and provide us with copies of current Comprehensive or at least Third-Party Property insurance policies for your vehicle.
