About the role
This role will be part of a small team responsible for a range of on-site activities at Mayne (Brisbane), as well as providing support with scheduled wagon maintenance inspections and repairs in regional Queensland.
At Mayne, duties will include component overhaul and testing in the back shop, as well as servicing Queensland Rail passenger rollingstock under the direction of the leading hand.
Regular travel to regional Queensland will be required to assist with wagon maintenance, which involves planned maintenance tasks, fault diagnosis, and welding to AS1554 standards.
Working environments will vary and may include both workshop and outdoor settings, depending on assignment location.
Key responsibilities:
* Perform mechanical work on Railway Rollingstock, sub-assemblies, and manufactured parts.
* Exposure to pneumatic systems and tools for mechanical servicing
* Read and interpret technical schematics to diagnose and resolve faults
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, leveraging technical drawings and engineering best practices.
* Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and contractors
What you'll bring:
* Trade-qualified mechanical fitter or boilermaker
* MIG/ARC Welding experience
* Valid driver's license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
* Ability to work independently and in a team
