Responsibilities
Working closely with an experienced Partner, you will play an integral role in delivering high quality tailored legal solutions on a range of matters to the firm's established client base. This role will offer you a challenging selection of work with your specific responsibilities, including:
* Management of your own employment files (as appropriate) and assistance with Partner files
* Supporting clients by providing advice and assistance on the full range of employment, industrial relations and safety issues, including:
* Advising on employment issues and risk (e.g. termination, redundancy, bullying, harassment etc.).
* Advising on employment entitlements and transfer issues in context of business sale/ restructures.
* Acting in workplace-related litigation (e.g. unfair dismissal claims, adverse action claims and other disputes).
* Enterprise bargaining, including advising on strategy and acting in related disputes (e.g. right of entry).
* Conducting workplace investigations (e.g. into allegations of bullying and harassment and other forms of misconduct) and advising on misconduct issues.
* Preparing employment contracts and workplace policies and procedures.
* Advising on workplace health and safety obligations and acting in investigations and prosecutions.
* Employment and workplace health and safety training.
* Negotiating on behalf of clients and representing them in court / tribunal hearings.
* Keeping up to date with new developments in employment legislation.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
* A minimum of four years' legal experience in employment / industrial relations / workplace health & safety law.
* A current Queensland Law Society practising certificate.
* Well-developed interpersonal, communication and consultation skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
* Demonstrated ability to manage several tasks concurrently with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency with excellent organisation skills and a proven ability to deal with competing deadlines.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a friendly, professional team and to achieve client time frames.
* Ability to be self-managed and be self-motivated.
