1. Position Purpose
To perform and supervise advanced rope access operations in compliance with IRATA International standards, client specifications, and Vivablast's safety policies.
The Rope Access Level 3 Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising complex rope access tasks, ensuring safe rigging, rescue preparedness, and technical excellence across all project activities.
2. Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Execute and oversee all rope access activities according to IRATA procedures and project requirements.
* Plan and perform rigging, anchor installation, and de-rigging of rope systems.
* Conduct risk assessments, prepare method statements, and ensure daily toolbox talks and safety briefings are completed.
* Supervise, coach, and evaluate Rope Access Level 1 & 2 Technicians to maintain operational safety and competence.
* Inspect and maintain PPE and rope access equipment, ensuring full traceability and certification compliance.
* Implement rescue plans and act as lead rescuer in emergency situations.
* Liaise with the Client, Site Manager, and Project Team to coordinate work progress and resolve technical issues.
* Prepare and submit daily reports, safety observations, and incident documentation.
* Ensure compliance with IRATA, GWO, and company HSE standards on all operations.
3. Qualifications & Experience
· Education: Diploma or equivalent in Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a relevant technical discipline.
· Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as an IRATA Level 3 Technician / Supervisor in industrial, offshore, or maintenance projects.
· Certifications:
* IRATA Level 3 (mandatory)
* GWO BST5 (Basic Safety Training)
* Valid First Aid Certificate
* Additional technical certifications (e.g., NDT, Rigging, Welding) are advantageous.
4. Key Skills & Competencies
* Comprehensive knowledge of rope access systems, rescue techniques, and safety regulations.
* Strong leadership and mentoring capability within rope access teams.
* Skilled in risk assessment, method statement preparation, and rescue planning.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal coordination with clients and team members.
* High level of discipline, professionalism, and situational awareness.
* Able to remain calm and decisive under pressure in high-risk environments.
5. Physical & Environmental Conditions
* Physically fit for work at height and in offshore or confined environments.
* Capable of working in variable weather and environmental conditions.
* Willing to travel or work under rotational/extended project schedules.
