Contract opportunity | Government environment | Hybrid workingWe are seeking an experienced Senior SAP BTP Developer Software Engineer to join a large and complex public sector environment. This role is suited to a senior engineer who enjoys technical leadership, designing scalable cloud solutions, and working across modern SAP landscapes.You will play a key role in building and enhancing SAP BTP solutions, supporting enterprise scale systems, and guiding best practice development while working closely with stakeholders and internal teams.

About the role
As a Senior SAP BTP Developer, you will provide technical leadership across end to end solution design and development. You will oversee quality, performance, and compliance of software delivered, while mentoring team members and transferring knowledge to internal staff.
Key responsibilities
Build end to end applications using SAP BTP backend technologies including CAP, Node.js and Java, and frontend frameworks such as SAP Fiori and SAPUI5Develop cloud native ABAP extensions in SAP BTP ABAP Environment for S4HANADesign and deliver scalable side by side extensions using the CAP modelDefine long term SAP BTP architecture and migrate legacy customisations away from the S4HANA coreImplement SAP Build Process Automation to reduce manual effort and streamline processesModel data structures using SAP HANA Cloud and SAP DatasphereConfigure BTP subaccounts, destinations, and authentication using OAuth and SAML via SAP IASDevelop and optimise CDS based data modelsManage CI CD pipelines, testing, and deployment across Cloud Foundry or KymaDeliver workflows and bots using SAP Build Process AutomationFacilitate Design Thinking workshops and translate business requirements into technical solutionsEnsure all development aligns with SAP BTP Developer Guide standardsCollaborate with stakeholders and adapt to changing prioritiesProvide documentation, knowledge transfer, and ongoing technical guidance

Essential skills and experience
10 plus years experience in the IT industry with deep expertise in SAP BTPStrong understanding of SAP BTP integration with S4HANA and SAP SuccessFactors Employee CentralProven experience delivering SAP BTP solutions in large public sector environmentsAt least two successful end to end SAP BTP implementationsExperience working in SAP Sovereign Cloud or SAP Private Cloud EditionStrong development skills across Node.js, Java, JavaScript, Python and ABAP CloudUI and UX experience using SAP Fiori and SAPUI5Hands on experience with SAP CAP, SAP RAP, and SAP Integration SuiteExperience with BAS, Eclipse ADT, GitHub and DevOps practices
Desirable experience
Development of REST and OData APIs for SAP and non SAP systemsExperience working in large, complex organisationsStrong DevOps and CI CD delivery experience
