Primary responsibility for execution strategy and site delivery.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead the planning, coordination and execution of all construction works
* Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved construction methodologies including: foundations and civil works, cable installation and trenching, substations and switchroom installation, terminations and testing, tie-ins to existing infrastructure.
* Manage mobilisation, site establishment and laydown areas.
* Coordinate construction interfaces between disciplines and subcontractors.
* Oversee shutdown planning and execution activities where required.
* Ensure effective work pack preparation and field execution.
* Manage daily site activities and field supervision.
* Ensure proper interface management between contractors, suppliers and client representatives.
Health, Safety and Environment Management
The Construction Manager holds primary responsibility for safe work execution and HSE leadership on site.
Responsibilities include:
* Promote and enforce the
* Zero Harm culture and Safe Systems of Work
* Ensure all works comply with project HSE procedures including: Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Workplace Risk Assessment and Control (WRAC), Permit to Work systems, Critical risk management controls.
* Ensure site compliance with: HSE legislation, client HSE requirements and company IMS procedures.
* Lead safety meetings, inspections and field leadership activities.
* Ensure all personnel are properly trained and inducted.
* Manage incident reporting, investigation and corrective actions.
* Exercise Stop Work Authority where required.
Quality Management
The Construction Manager ensures construction works comply with quality requirements and specifications.
Responsibilities include:
* Ensure works comply with the
* Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
* Verify construction activities meet project standards and specifications.
* Ensure proper documentation of inspection, testing and verification activities.
* Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
* Ensure progressive compilation of Manufacturer's Data Reports (MDRs) and project documentation.
* Support quality audits and continuous improvement processes.
Project Monitoring
The Construction Manager contributes to project performance monitoring and reporting.
Responsibilities include:
* Coordinate with the Project Controls team on: schedule updates, productivity tracking, earned value reporting.
* Support preparation of: daily reports, weekly progress reports, monthly project reviews.
* Ensure field progress measurement aligns with planned quantities and schedule activities.
* Monitor manpower productivity and construction progress against baseline schedule.
* Identify and report potential delays, risks or constraints.
Procurement and Subcontractor Management
The Construction Manager supports the procurement and subcontractor management processes.
Responsibilities include:
* Coordinate subcontractor mobilisation and site supervision.
* Monitor subcontractor performance against: safety, quality, schedule and contractual requirements.
* Ensure materials, plant and equipment are available when required.
* Support procurement planning and vendor interface management.
Project Leadership and Stakeholder Management
Responsibilities include:
* Provide leadership to the construction team and maintain clear communication across project disciplines.
* Interface with: client representatives, engineering teams, commissioning teams, project management.
* Support project leadership objectives including: KPI achievement, workforce culture and continuous improvement.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Construction Manager is accountable for:
* Construction productivity performance
* Schedule adherence
* Quality compliance (minimal NCRs)
* Successful commissioning handover
* Subcontractor performance
* Cost control within allocated construction budgets
Qualifications and Experience
Typical requirements include:
* Extensive experience managing infrastructure or industrial construction projects.
* Strong knowledge of: electrical infrastructure construction, substation works, cable installation and shutdown execution.
* Experience working within ISO accredited management systems (IMS)
