Who We Are

The Port Macquarie Base Hospital is a 228 bed level five facility with a 24-hour Emergency Department and a range of specialist services including intensive care, cardiology, geriatric, rheumatology, stroke, respiratory, oncology, renal dialysis, general medicine, orthopaedic, urology, vascular, general surgery, mental health, paediatrics and obstetrics. Additional services include physiotherapy, dietetics, social work, occupational therapy, Aboriginal health and Acute Pain Service. Diagnostic services include pathology, CT scans, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound and general x-ray.

What You'll Be Doing
Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to each individual’s needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for delivering specialist nursing care and leading development of specialist clinical practice and service delivery to provide effective quality care for patients with complex care needs for the new dedicated inpatient withdrawal management beds. (Port Macquarie Base Hospital).
The position will take a leadership role while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and act as a clinical expert, professional role model and change agent to promote practice development and quality initiatives that promote safe, efficient, and high-quality care. The position will work closely with the treating medical teams and patient flow manager to ensure efficient and safe bed management
