About the role and division Effective and transparent governance is key to AEMO's day to day role of operating the power system and markets for Australia and planning the energy system for the future.
It is also an essential part of AEMO's energy market reform delivery and corporate transformation programs.
As a newly created capability within the Finance Governance division, the Enterprise Governance team will support AEMO to evolve its organisational governance settings to align with a rapidly evolving operating context and stakeholder expectations.
Reporting to the Group Manager Risk Compliance, the Manager - Enterprise Governance will lead the strategic and operational elements of AEMO's governance uplift.
The role will support AEMO to ensure that the structural governance is operationalised through pragmatic, systematic uplift via development and delivery of a governance transformation blueprint.
The role will suit an experienced governance professional with strong technical expertise and excellent engagement skills.
This position will evolve from establishing strong policy and governance foundations to shaping agile, fit-for-purpose enterprise governance settings that enable the organisation to move faster and smarter, underpinned by sound judgement, commercial pragmatism and a focus on timely decision making.
The position is able to be based in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Sydney.
What you will be doing Enterprise Governance Transformation : Review, enhance and embed AEMO's organisational governance framework to ensure clear oversight, accountability and effective decision-making aligned to current and future operating contexts.
Governance Effectiveness Assurance : Ensure enterprise governance structures, decision-making protocols and assurance processes are efficient, fit-for-purpose and support AEMO's strategy while addressing critical risks.
Policy Governance : Finalise and implement AEMO's Policy Governance Framework, enabling policy owners and staff to meet requirements across the full policy lifecycle.
Culture Capability : Build organisational governance capability and culture through effective partnering, training and enablement, aligned with AEMO's values.
Executive Stakeholder Engagement : Partner closely with executive leadership and key internal stakeholders, including the Company Secretary and General Counsel, to ensure governance settings remain fit for purpose.
Risk, Compliance Continuous Improvement : Collaborate with risk and compliance counterparts and regularly benchmark governance practices to evolve AEMO's governance settings in line with regulatory and market change.
What you will bring to the role Education Tertiary or post graduate qualification in business, governance, legal or risk are desirable.
Experience and Knowledge Extensive senior-level experience in governance roles within medium to large or complex organisations.
Proven leadership of organisational transformation and governance, risk or compliance capability uplift initiatives.
Commercial and pragmatic judgement in delivering fit-for-purpose governance outcomes.
Ability to operate as a trusted adviser to senior internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to influence at all levels.
Understanding of, and genuine interest in, the energy market, including its challenges and opportunities.
Highly adaptable and resilient, with the ability to operate effectively through ambiguity, uncertainty and change.
