Position Overview

6‐month fixed‐term full‐time position commencing Term 3, 2026 with possible 12‐month extension and/or permanency.

Position is part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requires character‐limited responses to 2 AITSL domains at application stage. The remaining domain will be assessed during a further stage for shortlisted applicants only.

The School

Katanning Senior High School (SHS) is a secondary school located in the heart of the Great Southern region of Western Australia, 2.5 hours from Perth.

The Role

* Work under a collaborative leadership structure including a dedicated Teacher in Charge who will provide mentoring around curriculum and instructional strategies.

* Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Contribute to shaping and promoting the school's values, vision and priorities throughout the community.
* Be highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence‐based decision making and differentiation.

Applicants should be motivated, have the ability to teach secondary Health and Physical Education, and be knowledgeable of the Western Australian Curriculum. Ability to teach General Year 11 and 12 courses is advantageous. A teacher who aspires to academic excellence and is committed to high‐quality teaching and learning is desirable.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Katanning Senior High School in 2026 are eligible for a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $3 000 (annual, gross – adjusted pro‐rata for FTE and tenure). Staff must remain employed until the end of the school year to receive the second payment.

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information can be found on our website.

* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
