This is a 13 month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension (13 months) and/or permanency.
The Industrial and Employee Relations Directorate comprises the Industrial Relations and Employee Relations branches and is responsible for ensuring compliance with industrial instruments and associated legislative frameworks. The Directorate provides strategic and operational advice and support on a wide range of industrial and employee relations matters, supports effective performance management, and assists school leaders and line managers with discrete human resource issues, including conduct and discipline, while advising the Minister, Director General and senior leaders on complex workforce matters.
The Role
The role supports the Industrial and Employee Relations Branch by working collaboratively with the Industrial Relations team to provide high-level advice, training and support to key stakeholders. This includes interpreting Awards and Agreements and providing guidance on employment, industrial relations and performance management matters.
Operating with a degree of autonomy under the broad direction of the Manager Industrial Relations, the position undertakes complex research and analysis, prepares reports and develops recommendations to support effective industrial relations outcomes. The role also contributes to the preparation of Ministerial correspondence, parliamentary questions, reports and briefings in consultation with the Manager Industrial Relations.
In addition, the position represents the Department in industrial relations and other relevant forums, and contributes to the development, implementation and review of labour relations policies and procedures.
