The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of building and civil capital projects and major maintenance works for Council. Reporting to the General Manager Infrastructure Services, this is a hands-on leadership role with real scope to shape outcomes for a remote community.
Responsibilities
* Lead multi-disciplinary building and civil projects from conception to completion.
* Manage cost estimating, budgeting and financial control, providing monthly financial reports with cash flow projections.
* Prepare and review funding submissions, project documentation, progress reports, and grant and capital works planning frameworks.
* Represent Council in negotiations with funding agencies, regulatory bodies and contractors to achieve optimal project and community outcomes.
* Oversee and manage contractor performance, ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
* Identify and escalate variations to project scope, cost or schedule, and ensure all statutory and legislative obligations are met.
* Contribute to the development of Council's infrastructure strategies, long-term asset plans and continuous improvement of project delivery processes.
About you
* Degree qualification in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field (desirable).
* Demonstrated experience in the construction industry, preferably in local government or capital works project delivery.
* Proven knowledge of project management principles, contract preparation, administration and supervision.
* Proficient in accurate cost estimating for construction works and use of financial management software.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills; strong report and submission writing ability.
* Current Queensland 'C' Class Driver's Licence and Construction White Card.
