The Role
Reporting directly to the site FSQ Manager, the Food Safety Quality Technician will implement effective quality assurance systems to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards required by our customers and legislation.
This role maintains trust and integrity in our products and processes by monitoring and verifying quality system requirements independently, ensuring the production of safe, quality food.
Key responsibilities include:
Review, maintain, and implement food safety and quality documentation, focusing on hygiene best practices.
Collaborate with the QA Manager and other departments to improve quality, reduce complaints, and optimise production.
Verify HACCP and related programs, and oversee internal audits to ensure compliance.
Monitor production activities to ensure product safety and quality standards are met.
Lead site hygiene performance, manage non-conformances, and drive corrective actions.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for microbiological non-conformances.
Support hygiene-related supplier and contractor management.
Participate in HACCP team activities, including traceability exercises, mock recalls, and product withdrawals.
Assist with complaint resolution and manage non-conforming product holds with the QA Manager.
Monitor spend on consumables and chemicals to ensure budget adherence.
Perform other duties as directed.
The Person
We seek someone with experience and passion for Food Safety & Quality in manufacturing.
To succeed, you should have:
A Degree or Tertiary qualification in Food Science/Technology or equivalent.
At least 1 year of relevant experience.
Knowledge of FMCG industry processes and methods.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Problem-solving skills and adaptability.
Approachability and good listening skills.
Self-awareness and eagerness to learn.
Ability to prioritise work and update stakeholders promptly.
