Paying $54.90-$59.22ph + super | Colac Location with WFH flexibility provided | 6 month temp contract with potential for extension or permanency
About the Role
Our client are a local government organisation based in Colac. They are currently seeking a Project Accountant to come in and work with them on a temp contract basis for 6 months with potential for extension or permanency.
Candidates for this experience must have:
* CPA/CA qualification or similar (Highly regarded)
* Management or Asset Accounting experience
* State or Local government experience (Desirable, not essential)
* Auditing experience
Key responsibilities
* Asset & Project Management: Manage the end-to-end asset lifecycle, from tracking Assets under Construction and determining capitalisation to monitoring project budgets and decommissioning.
* Financial Reporting & Analysis: Execute period-end journal entries and prepare financial reports and audit schedules to track project performance and statutory compliance.
* Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop capital budgets and business cases while analyzing variances between actual and forecasted costs to provide strategic recommendations.
* Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure adherence to accounting standards and grant requirements through rigorous account reconciliations and audit documentation management.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a financial advisor to project managers and department heads, providing oversight and guidance on capital policies and procedures.
About You
You will be an experienced Project Accountant with proven experience and reliability in previous positions. The successful candidate will possess:
* CPA/CA qualification or similar (Highly regarded)
* Management or Asset Accounting experience
* State or Local government experience (Desirable, not essential)
* Auditing experience
