About the team

Our experience is in residential, industrial, rural, commercial and government projects across all property asset classes, including retirement, aged care, agriculture, mining, residential mixed‐use, hotels, office leasing portfolios, shopping centres and infrastructure.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our commercial and retail leasing team. You would be working directly with Claire Day, the National Practice Group Joint Head of the Property and Development Group. The role is located in our Sydney office with a primary focus on commercial and retail leasing and would include:
* File management of leasing matters (both acting for a lessor and acting for a lessee)
* Providing clients with legal advice
* Regularly reviewing applicable case law and legislative changes
* Conducting effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice
* Managing a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively
* Developing an understanding of client operations and strategy
* Managing existing and prospective client relationships
* Mentoring and developing more junior team members
* Continual professional development and managing MCLE requirements
About you
To be successful in this role you should have:
* 5+ years PQE
* A strong academic record
* Strong knowledge of PEXA and Revenue NSW procedures
* Strong knowledge of NSW LRS Registrar General's Guidelines as pertains to leasing transactions
* Experience with a variety of leasing transactions (agreements for lease, assignments of lease, variations of lease, surrenders of lease)
* Be able to review and advise a lessee on the legal and commercial terms of a lease and provide advice
* Demonstrated ability to review and assess lease requested amendments when acting for a lessor
* Strong technical skills, including a strong knowledge of property law (including the ability to manage transactions on PEXA), strong negotiation skills, excellent drafting skills
* Exceptional communication skills
* Have the ability to mentor more junior team members and work in a close‐knit team
* Have the ability to undertake carriage of matters autonomously and under the supervision of Partners and other senior lawyers
