About the Role
Main tasks include:
· Erecting and dismantling (at height) various types of scaffolding systems, edge protection, material hoists shore-loading, propping and bin chutes according to the level of their certification (HRWL Advanced or Intermediate tickets).
· erecting lifting tackles by attaching pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, and installing cables and attaching counterweights
· attaching slinging gear to hoisting equipment and objects to be moved using clamps, hooks, bolts and knots
· fitting and bolting tubes, support braces and components to form bases and build up scaffolding
· lifting and positioning sections of scaffolding
· measuring, cutting, bending and fitting welded wire mesh into concrete areas to be mesh-reinforced
· fixing mesh and reinforcing steel into position in formwork for concrete pours
· setting up winches and rigging equipment to raise and position girders, plates, columns and other steel units
· erecting guard rails, guy wires, ropes and clears, laying planks and hanging safety nets
· Completing all regulatory administrative paperwork daily including scaffold handovers, inspections, tags, day-labour dockets and material lists.
· Ability to read and interpret scaffold designs and construction plans.
· Making sure measurements are correct and equipment location / placement is fit for purpose / compliant.
· Communicate with CGH project management on daily work activities, measure work progress efficiency and effectiveness.
· Identify potential hazards of proposed work assess risk and develop controls to eliminate or minimize the risk through the preparation of a safe work method statement.
· Able to facilitate and consultation in the form of tool box talks which will be recorded, signed off and any correction action required to be followed up.
· Conducting scaffold inspections, ensuring that all jobs are built safely, within specified timeframes and of a quality standard.
· Audit scaffold for regulation compliance and sign off with Scaffold Tag ready to be used by contractor.
· Provide technical direction and leadership to scaffold crew. Supervise and or direct work, manage daily schedule making sure communicating with project management on work activities. Ensure that procedures are established and followed. That safe work standards are understood and practiced.
Qualifications and work experience requirements:
· Scaffolding AQF Certificate III with at least one year of relevant experience or transferable equivalent international certification (NZ Intermediate or Advanced, UK Blue or Gold card, TESDA II Advanced)
· Australian High-Risk Work Licence (or eligible to obtain)
· Strong knowledge of scaffold techniques and procedures
· Ability to read and interpret scaffold lay-out drawings
· Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, safety policies, procedures and legislation
What you need or are willing to obtain:
· Construction Safety Induction (White Card)
* Intermediate or Advanced Scaffolding Ticket (including transfer of international certification to relevant Australian Tickets)
* Working at Heights Certification
* Police Clearance & Working with Children Checks
* Clean Drug & Alcohol test
* Australian Citizenship, Residency or relevant Work Visa
Preferred, not essential:
· Current Drivers Licence and own transport (MR licence preferred)
* Scaffolders Tool Belt
* PPE including in date Harness & Fall Restraint Lanyard
* HRWL Scaffolding VOC (within 2 years)
