AWS Infrastructure Services is the backbone of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. Our mission is to maintain seamless cloud operations, supporting all AWS data centers including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that our customers depend on. We tackle complex supply chain challenges and continuously innovate to meet growing customer demands.
We are seeking a Data Center Facility Manager to lead and ensure 99.999% uptime of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems that support critical server operations. The successful candidate will join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts, collaborating across AWS to maintain the highest standards of safety and security. This role requires strong communication skills, proven expertise in troubleshooting complex technical issues, and the ability to optimize operational costs while maintaining exceptional reliability standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excel at managing both high and under performing teams. They should possess a continuous improvement philosophy and growth mindset, with experience in data center operations, facilities management, and team leadership. This position includes physical requirements such as lifting equipment up to 20 kg, working in confined spaces, and at elevated locations while following safety protocols. As the role manages a 24x7 shift rotation team, flexibility to work outside normal business hours is essential.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and maintain critical data center infrastructure through rigorous Change Management processes to ensure high-quality operations without customer impact.
- Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career
- Drive continuous improvement projects from conception to completion, collaborating with various support teams across the organization.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure SLA compliance while managing operations budget and expenditures effectively.
- Routinely operate as the after hours on-call Data Center Facility Manager for the data centers in the region. This will include responding to any issues within the data centers and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s)
- Promote a culture of operational excellence through preventive maintenance, risk management, and process improvement initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years people management experience, with proven success in team development and technical training
- Comprehensive knowledge of critical data center infrastructure, including electrical systems (feeders, transformers, generators, UPS, PDUs) and mechanical systems (chillers, pumps, air handling units, fire safety).
- Strong track record of maintaining SLAs through proactive monitoring, documentation, and issue resolution, with the ability to engage support teams when needed
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and improving maintenance procedures while ensuring compliance with Australian standards and safety regulations.
- Proven ability to take ownership of technical challenges and drive solutions, while continuously expanding knowledge of Amazon's business and relevant technologies
