Harrison McMillan is seeking multiple APS5 Community and Peer workers to work with a Federal Government Department who currently has opportunities available across ACT, NSW, VIC and SA.
About the role
This role is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, working together to respectfully support clients and stakeholders while promoting hope and empowerment. It focuses on educating individuals and communities about strengths‑based, recovery‑oriented practices, and connecting them with appropriate community services to encourage early engagement and provide trauma‑informed mental health support.
Responsibilities
* Provide personalised peer support to clients who are experiencing hardship across their lifespan.
* Build rapport and trust with clients whilst being guided by their expertise from their own life experiences and knowledge of their mental wellbeing.
* Work collaboratively with your team to deliver group programs to support client recovery.
* Promote and represent the Departments values by networking with internal and external stakeholders.
* Undertake administrative tasks such as accurate records documentation and reporting - as well as maintaining confidentiality requirements of the role.
* Engage in ongoing training and development.
Desired Qualifications
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent
* Previous experience in mental health sector, or
* Previous experience in mentoring, coaching or supporting individuals
Mandatory Requirements
* Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencing in the position
