We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Superintendent with a solid background working in the mining industry to assist in the delivery of our project based near Kalgoorlie.
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following as a minimum:
* Have 5 - 10 years experience in Health, Safety and Environment roles within the mining sector.
* Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a management/senior safety role, preferably in contract mining.
* Extensive knowledge in implementing and maintaining Principal Mining Hazards and Mine Safety Management Systems.
* ICAM Lead Investigator Course with experience in facilitating investigations with key stakeholders across the business.
* Experience in Critical Risk Management is desirable.
* Formal qualification in Work Health and Safety or Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., Diploma or higher).
* Strong understanding of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 (WA) and other relevant Western Australian legislation.
* Proven experience in leading HSE teams and mentoring and upskilling the site-based safety advisors.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence safe behaviours across all levels.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with corporate and site leadership.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* High attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.
* Resilient, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for but not limited to:
* Ensure compliance with both the Site specific Safety Management Systems and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 (WA) and other applicable legislation.
* Provide governance and direction to HSET personnel onsite.
* Develop and implement key health and safety documents including development and review of key management plans.
* Provide technical advice, support and coaching to the management team and play a key guidance role in coaching and mentoring.
* Liaise with the various departments on HSET matters as required.
* Implement Critical Risk Management (CRM) principles in health and safety systems and processes and coach all levels of the site in their application.
* Experience managing critical control verification programs and ensuring compliance with Principal Hazard Management Plans (PHMPs).
* Conduct internal health and safety audits and inspections.
* Facilitate incident investigations (ICAM) to identify root causes and corrective actions.
* Ensure all core health and safety training and competency requirements are identified, communicated, recorded and managed, including training matrices and systems.
* Assist in the delivery of health and safety training across the site.
* Liaise with subcontractors regarding safety and health matters.
