About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Legal Assistantto join our busy Construction & Projects team in Melbourne. Theteam is well recognised by government departments, majorconstruction companies and developer clients for practical andcommercial advice.
This role will work closely with one of our award-winningConstruction Partners and will provide a high level ofadministrative and secretarial support in a close-knit team thatembraces a supportive culture. You will get to know our clients andour projects, and be able to offer focused support for ourwork.
Law students in the first year of their degree are encouraged toapply.
There is plenty of variety with the key responsibilities andduties including:
- Drafting and editing high quality legal correspondence anddocumentation
- Liaising with clients, Partners, lawyers and otherstakeholders via email and telephone
- Time entry, preparation of bills and processing of monthlybilling
- Assisting with matter management, including file openingand closing, and preparing matter status and billing reportsfor the team and for clients

About you
You will be self-motivated and adaptable in a dynamicenvironment. You also are a team player and pride yourself onexceeding expectations. A strong work ethic and commitment to yourrole will see you succeed in this position.
Ideally you will have:
- At least two years of legal assistant or executiveassistant experience within private practice
- Polished secretarial skills including refined knowledge ofthe Microsoft Office suite, including Teams, Word, PowerPointand Excel spreadsheet skills
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with high level ofprofessionalism and excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- The ability to produce accurate, high quality work(attention to detail is critical)
- Previous experience working with billing software such asAderant Expert is advantageous
