Responsibilities
* Be responsible for the onsite management and coordination of a work crew and/or contractors; and will provide coaching and leadership to team members.
* Supervise a team to carry out maintenance of bridges and drainage structures safely.
* Provide guidance and direction to team members and accept responsibility for work carried out individually or in a team environment by others.
* Dealing with routine problems that arise during the course of work through the application of acquired knowledge and reference to standard guidelines and manuals.
* Actively participate in team meetings and processes and pro-actively offer suggestions for improvement.
* Performing carpentry trade activities including the construction and maintenance of bridge structures across the region including maintenance of steel, concrete and timber bridges, slope remediation works and bridge painting.
* Daily duties include steel element replacements, falsework and formwork, bearing and joint replacements and timber bridge maintenance and construction.
* Carrying out duties of Construction Carpenter Grade 3 safely.
Location & Requirements
* Ongoing full-time role located at Waratah.
* Residence within 75km distance from the Waratah depot is required due to WHS and fatigue management considerations.
About You
* Qualified carpenter with leadership/supervisory experience who enjoys motivating high performing teams.
* Outcomes-driven to meet project deadlines; quick to think on your feet.
* Trade qualified Carpenter ready to develop into the next stage of your career and an experienced leader within bridge maintenance and/or civil construction.
* Practical thinker, quick learner and strong communicator; enjoys outdoor manual tasks with hand tools and equipment in a team setting.
* Carpentry Licence/Trade certificate and Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent.
* Current Construction Industry White Card, current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver's licence, and ability to work at heights.
* Willingness to undertake legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed.
