Responsibilities
You’ll contribute to keeping our sports fields, parks, reserves, cemeteries, and other community spaces secure and well-maintained. Responsibilities include:
- Use and care for equipment like mowers and garden tools
- Maintain turf, trees, shrubs, and flower beds
- Work alongside experienced staff to learn practical turf and horticulture skills
Requirements / Qualifications
We’re looking for someone interested in sports turf management who enjoys outdoor work and shows commitment through school, study, or past work. Be reliable, focused, and eager to learn.
Employment Details
- Position: Apprentice Sports Turf Management (Certificate III)
- Location: MidCoast Council Depot, Grey Gum Road, Tuncurry; may be based at other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region
- Tenure: Fixed term 3 years
- Hours: 38 hours per week, with a fortnightly rostered day off
- Commencement: Tuesday 27 January 2026
- Remuneration: Salary range approximately $31,288 to $53,196 p.a. in accordance with Local Government (State) Award; salary determined by age, qualifications, and prior experience
- Superannuation: 12% additional
Pre-employment requirements: completion of a basic skills assessment and medical check (medical includes drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, and functional and medical components).
