Play a vital role in protecting community infrastructure by inspecting, coordinating and resolving sewer infiltration issues across household and public networks. This hands-on role also leads the delivery, administration and reporting of proactive sewer maintenance plans that keep essential systems running smoothly.
About the role:
* Reduce infiltration into Council’s wastewater systems by implementing targeted inspection and rectification programs across public gravity sewers and private plumbing.
* Investigate and address illegal connections and property faults using techniques such as smoke and dye testing, IO inspections and rainfall investigations.
* Carry out maintenance and repairs including manholes, lids and associated sewer assets, while supervising contractors as required.
* Work as part of the Operational Reticulation team under the supervision of the Senior Engineer - Network Operations, managing an Assistant and coordinating broader reticulation resources as needed.
* Undertake ancillary operational tasks on a needs basis, including backflow prevention testing, odour and gas monitoring, flow/pressure testing and asset inspections.

We are seeking:
* A suitably licensed professional holding a current NSW Contractors Licence for plumbing, drainage and water connection works, along with a current C‑class driver’s licence.
* Demonstrated technical knowledge of public sewerage systems - particularly gravity sewers and internal sanitary drainage with a strong understanding of infiltration sources.
* Proven capability in applying infiltration evaluation and rectification techniques, supported by hands-on problem solving and field-based experience.
* Strong computer skills, including the use of data systems for inspections, reporting and information retrieval.
* A motivated, safety-conscious self‑starter who can work unsupervised, manage public enquiries professionally and holds current WorkCover WHS Induction (Construction) training.
